Most of us switch out our wardrobes at the beginning of each season. Makes sense, right? There is no need for cashmere sweaters when it's boiling outside. Same applies to our skincare. As the weather hots up, it is only normal to switch up our routines. It would be a waste (not to mention uncomfortable) to use our richest night cream when we are only going to sweat it all off. How do you switch up your skincare routine? Easy.
Sunscreen
Sunscreen is the best anti-aging product. We should apply it daily all year long (especially if AHAs and retinol are a part of our skincare routine). But it is crucial in the summer. Apply sunscreen about 20 minutes before you head out of the door. If you are going to do any type of physical activity or going swimming for example, go for a waterproof version. Don't forget to reapply often if you are out and about all day long. If you are unsure when and how to apply your sunscreen check NHS recommended guidelines.
Don't skip on the evening cleanseSummer is not the time to skip on your evening cleanse. Think about the makeup, the sweat, the daily grime and all that sunscreen. Cleanse your face every evening to prevent any potential break outs.
Vitamin C
Add a vitamin C serum to your summer skincare routine. Vitamin C is a powerful anti-oxidant that can reverse DNA damage and protect against free-radicals (two of the most common factors in photo-aging). Different studies have concluded that vitamin C can prevent damage from the UV rays. If you are on the look out for an effective vitamin C serum our Clarity-C vitamin C serum boasts 18% of vitamin C (in the form of stabilised C ester Sodium Ascorbyl Phostphate) in an organic Aloe Vera hydrating base.
Mists and tonersMists, facials sprays and toners might seem like a waste of money. Not to mention who has time for another extra step, right? But during summer a fine mist will give you some relief and a much needed moisture boost. A toner will refresh your skin and can serve as the last step in the cleansing process. Our Glytone Hydrating Glycolic Ginger toner is a wonderful way to wake up and refine your skin. It combines 5% Glycolic Acid together with Witch Hazel, vitamin B5 and ginger. It is also free of silicone, parabens and alcohol.
Lighter moisturizers
Last, but not least - moisturizer. From experience even the driest of skins can benefit from a lighter moisturizer in the summer.
If you are looking for a lighter moisturizer our Clarity-C lotion contains 15% stabilised vitamin C together with organic Aloe Vera, Jojoba Oil and vitamin B5.
Dry and sensitive skins can opt for our Hydraplus Cream with 5% of organic Beta Glucan. It will boost natural hyaluronic acid levels and improve skin's natural repair functions. Organic Aloe Vera, Chamomile and Calendula will soothe and calm sensitive skin. The added bonus is 5% vitamin C for that much needed antioxidant boost.
